Over 800 undergraduate students and faculty from around the state of Oklahoma are expected to attend the 21st annual Oklahoma Research Day at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
Oklahoma Research Day is Friday, and the public is invited to attend the poster sessions in the SWOSU Wellness Center. Other activities that day will take place in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
Oklahoma’s premier undergraduate research fair will take place throughout the day with research subjects including everything from accounting to zoology. Sponsor tables and vendors will also be present to recruit for graduate and professional programs.
The public is invited to attend poster sessions in the SWOSU Wellness Center from 10-11:30 a.m. and 1-2:30 p.m. Admission to the poster sessions is free, and registration is not required.
The private luncheon featured keynote speaker is Dr. Bonnie J. Dunbar, a five-time shuttle astronaut and currently the Texas A&M Engineering Station eminent professor and director of the Aerospace Human Systems Laboratory. She will discuss her life experiences and offer inspiration for students to follow their dreams.
Oklahoma Research Day is sponsored by SWOSU, Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, East Central University in Ada, University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Cameron University in Lawton, OK EPSCoR, OK INBRE, City of Weatherford and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
Dr. Lori Gwyn, director of the SWOSU Office of Sponsored Programs, said visitors are encouraged to park at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center and make the short walk to the Wellness Center.
