Wellington Residents Sentenced

21 pleas took place in the 100th Judicial District Court in Childress County, Texas with some involving two Wellington, Texas residents.

According to a press release, 38-year-old Magan Ann Brandt pleaded true and was sentenced to 6 years in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Brandt, from Wellington, was arrested by in Collingsworth County on September 12, 2022. Brandt was indicted by a Collingsworth County Grand Jury on February 23, 2023.

Brandt originally pleaded on June 8, 2023, and received two years deferred adjudication for the third degree felony of theft.

The State filed its motion to adjudicate on April 25, alleging seven violations of community supervision. In addition to the sentence, Brant is also required to pay a $500 fine and $376 in court costs.

In a separate case, 32-year-old Prentice Benard Coffee was placed on probation for four years for the second degree felony offense of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance.

A judge also ordered that he pay a $3,000 fine, $450 in attorney fees, $376 in court costs, and must complete 300 hours of community service.

In two additional cases, a second count of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, Coffee was placed on probation for four years along with the payment of $450 in attorney fees, and $376 in court costs in each case.

If Coffee violates his probation, he faces up to 20 years in prison on each count of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and 10 years in prison for the possession of a prohibited weapon case. Notably, the Court could stack all three sentences to run consecutively for a total sentence of 50 years in prison.
