The Elk City Elkettes are off to a strong start in their regional tournament, shutting out Madill 12-0 earlier today. Aubrie Pogue delivered a stellar performance, pitching a complete five-inning shutout while allowing only one hit and striking out 14 batters. At the plate, Claire Edwards and Regan Hulen led the charge with three hits each, pushing the Elkettes closer to the championship game.

Elsewhere in Class 4A action:

  • Weatherford dominated Pauls Valley with a 19-0 victory.
  • Clinton fell to Plainview, 12-1.
  • Woodward beat Dickson 7-6 but suffered a 13-1 defeat to Tuttle. Their season ended after a 4-0 loss to Tuttle again today.

Class 2A Super Regional Recap

Class 2A is in the middle of the Super Regional round, with teams fighting for a spot in next week’s state tournament:

  • Merritt lost the first game of their series against Preston, 5-0. They’ll need to win game 2 to keep their hopes alive.
  • Hobart traveled to Pocola but saw their season end with back-to-back shutout losses, 13-0 and 10-0.

Class A & B Regional Updates

Class A and B teams are also battling for a chance to advance to the state tournament next week. Here are some of the latest scores:

  • Class B: Leedey defeated Timberlake 8-6, while L-S took down Cov Doug 14-4.
  • Class A: AB rolled over Mooreland 11-2, while Navajo shut out Sterling 4-0. Canute dominated Fletcher 12-0.

Golf Update: Quade Cummins Starts Strong at Korn Ferry Tour Championship

Weatherford native Quade Cummins is off to a solid start at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, shooting a 1-under 71 in his first round. Cummins, who is already headed to the PGA Tour next season, is currently tied for 19th and sits four shots behind the leader. A strong finish in this tournament could help improve his standing as he prepares for his first full season on the PGA Tour.
