Monday night was Elk City Treasurer Lisa Church’s last meeting, and last day on the job.
Church submitted her letter of resignation last month and intends to join the South West Oklahoma Development Authority staff as a grant writer.
Church was honored during Tuesday night’s meeting by Mayor Nick Archer and was praised by commissioner Larry Muck.
Archer says Church’s grant writing efforts have saved the city just under $12 million since 2014.
Also during the meeting city employee Crystal Wooten was named Interim City Treasurer until a replacement has been found. City Manager Tom Ivester says a recommendation as to who could fill the position could come as soon as the next regularly scheduled meeting of the city commission on October 21.
