Suspected Jewel Thief Arrested in Weatherford

A suspected jewel thief was arrested after leading Weatherford police on a pursuit recently.

According to the Weatherford Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Weatherford Walmart in reference to a larceny early Sunday evening. When officers arrived, they were advised that a male subject, later identified as being 29-year-old Reid Milligan of Hamlet, North Carolina, was breaking into the jewelry cases and stealing the jewelry.

Officers would follow Milligan after leaving the store, getting into his car, and leaving the parking lot.
A short time later, officers engaged their emergency lights and sirens but the vehicle continued to travel at low speeds. Ultimately, the vehicle did come to a stop south of Weatherford.
After a search of the vehicle, officers would locate numerous items that belonged to the store that would total in the amount exceeding $1,000.
Milligan was charged with grand larceny, attempting to elude an officer, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid drivers license.
