A man wanted in Washita County on a felony charge was apprehended Wednesday in Clinton after a standoff.

According to authorities, 35-year-old Brent Johnson was wanted after being charged with abuse by a caretaker with a $30,000 bond in April, 2020. Knowing Johnson was at a home in the 1500 block of Neptune Drive in Clinton, Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Unit went to the home to perform a routine visit, unaware of the warrant. When officials became aware of Johnson’s felony warrant, he refused to come out of the home.

Shortly after the standoff began, Clinton police were dispatched to assist the DOC along with officials from the Custer County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Johnson would eventually come out of the home peacefully before authorities made entry. He was arrested and transported to the Washita County Jail.

If the story sounds familiar, it should. Johnson refused to come out of the home last May – that time authorities had to make a forced entry to arrest him.
