Latest Sales Tax Numbers Impressive for Local Communities

If the latest sales tax report for area municipalities are any indication, a lot of local patrons started the Christmas holiday shopping season in November.

Once again, sales tax intake for area cities were impressive, with two of the area’s biggest communities over the $1 million mark again.

According to the Oklahoma Tax Commission, the City of Elk City took in just over $1,224,000 of sales tax revenue in the month of November, a hefty 21% increase when compared to last year’s numbers.

Weatherford was over the $1 million mark for a second month in a row bringing in just over $1,123,000 – up 26%, while Clinton was up 11% bringing in just under $479,000.

Woodward brought in over $1.1 million, up 28% and El Reno saw a 34% increase in the month of November, bringing in a little over $1,097,000.

Even smaller communities in western Oklahoma saw an increase.

Thomas was up 43%, bringing in a little over $48,600. Hydro was up 27% accumulating just over $26,400 of sales tax dollars.

The only slight blemish in the area was Cordell, bringing in $80,089 – a 7% decrease when compared to a year ago.
