A Clinton man was arrested and charged recently after allegedly threatening a man with a gun.
According to court records, 22-year-old Andrew Wraspir was charged last week with one felony count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for his role in the incident.
A probable cause affidavit said that the altercation between the defendant and the victim occurred on May 5 when Clinton Police were dispatched to a fight in progress in the 900 block of Gary Boulevard. When they arrived, they found a man lying face down claiming he had been shot.
After being treated at a nearby hospital, it was determined that he had not been shot, but was involved in a fight with the suspect.
He would tell police that he had gotten into a verbal dispute with a juvenile teenager earlier in the day. Later the teen along with the defendant would return with a gun, where the victim claimed Wraspir had raised, and pointed it at him.
He also stated that he had cocked the gun on two occasions, the second time occurred while he was lowering the firearm – which caused it to fire.
The affidavit said that a fight would ensue with the victim brandishing a knife. The victim told police that the gun would discharge two more times during the scuffle.
It was later determined that one of the bullets had entered a neighboring apartment, where a mother and her 18-month-old child were hiding during the fight.
Wraspir would later be located and placed under arrest.
His next court date is scheduled for May 26.
