A Chester man pulled over in Clinton and arrested for suspicion of drunk driving was allegedly discovered to be in possession of illegal drugs that included fentanyl.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Clinton Police pulled over 28-year-old Tyler James Paris on the morning of June 18. There, the officer suspected Paris of driving impaired and conducted two field sobriety tests, in which he failed.

After being placed in handcuffs and placed into the officer’s patrol unit, Paris was asked if there was anything illegal in the truck he was driving. The affidavit said that Paris allegedly confessed that he was in possession of illegal narcotics and paraphernalia.

A search of the vehicle would turn up a purple liquor bag that contained what later field tested positive to being methamphetamine, fentanyl, and xanax.

Officers also found smoking paraphernalia with the illegal substances.

Paris was charged last week with one count of trafficking illegal drugs, driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
