A registered sex offender from Elk City who authorities say cut off his ankle monitor and left Oklahoma has been captured.

Elk City police announced that 26-year-old Andrew Michael Hill was located and arrested recently after cutting off the monitor and fleeing the area last month.

Initially police suspected Hill may have been fleeing to Kansas, however it was not indicated where he was arrested. Police did say, however, that Hill is awaiting extradition back to Oklahoma.

When an outstanding warrant for Hill’s arrest was issued on June 28, bond was initially set at $20,000.

He was originally charged with one felony count of violation of sex offender registry, but now possibly faces more charges.

As of press time, no court date has been scheduled.
