The National Weather Service is warning Oklahomans about the dangerous heat present in the state.

NWS Observations Program Leader Forrest Mitchell says it may be a couple of degrees cooler throughout the rest of the week, but the humidity is higher.

That, he says, translates into higher heat index values. Mitchell says there’s no relief in sight for the rest of the month.

Locally, the heat in western Oklahoma looks to continue throughout the rest of the week with temps hitting the triple digits until a 20% chance of rain gives us some hope of relief on Sunday and Sunday night.
