Elk City’s Competitive Showing in Texas
Elk City participated in a 3-day holiday invitational in Childress, Texas, showing remarkable resilience and determination. While the Elkettes faced tough battles throughout the week, they finished 0-4 in Childress. Despite their efforts, the team fell short, losing 51-48 in OT to Clarendon and facing defeats against other formidable opponents.
However, the Big Elks’ fortune changed on Saturday when they achieved their first win of the season, triumphing over Valley with a score of 47-35. The afternoon game against Seymour saw a remarkable comeback as they outscored their opponents 14-3 in the final quarter, securing a hard-fought victory with a score of 43-39.
Hollis’ and Erick’s Tournament Action
Hollis competed in Geronimo for a challenging tournament. Despite a loss in the Cons Champ game, both the Lady Tigers and Tigers exhibited resilience and skill throughout the tournament. Similarly, Erick showcased an impressive performance at the Best of the Southwest Tournament. While the Lady Bearcats secured the 3rd position, the Bearcats claimed victory as the champions in the boys’ division.
Merritt and Canute at the Holiday Classic
Merritt Oilers made an impression at the Holiday Classic held in Mooreland. Though they secured victories against the hosts and fought hard in the semis and 3rd place game, they were unable to clinch a victory. Conversely, Canute’s Trojanettes clinched the championship with commendable performances, while the Trojans claimed the runner-up position.
Leedey’s Inaugural So Canadian Classic
Leedey hosted the inaugural So Canadian Classic that featured several ParagonTV schools. The tournament saw fierce competition with various teams vying for the top spots. Leedey schools secured multiple places, with the Bison emerging victorious as the boys’ champs and the Lady Bison placing 3rd.
