Elk City City Manager Tom Ivester reminds the public of the permitting process that is required for potential solicitors.

He said recently door-to-door salesman from out of town had to be turned away due to the lack of the required permits, which raised some questions in the public.

Ivester said the idea of the ordinance is to prevent scammers from taking advantage of citizens and to make sure the salesman are representing a legitimate business.
