The annual Southwestern Oklahoma State University Interscholastic Meet (SWIM), Oklahoma’s longest running academic competition for high school and junior high students, recently took place at SWOSU on Thursday, March 28. Established in 1913, SWIM has been a key event for schools statewide, promoting academic excellence and friendly competition.
This year, SWIM drew participation from over 50 schools, each competing for individual awards and to represent their schools. Over 1,600 exams were administered during the event. Sweepstakes awards, the top prizes in the school competition, were presented across three divisions based on school size: Class I for schools with 600 or more students enrolled in grades nine through 12; Class II for those with 151–19 students; and Class II for schools with 150 or fewer students.
The 2024 SWIM saw the following schools win the sweepstakes:
Class I: Southmoore High School
Class II: Weatherford High School
Class III: Burns Flat-Dill City High School.
In addition to the sweepstakes, individual and school achievements were recognized across nine categories of the competition: Fine Arts, Biological Sciences, Business, Computer Science, Language & Literature, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, and Technology.
