A Sayre man was arrested earlier this month after he allegedly vandalized a home and punched a woman.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Sayre police were dispatched to the home in the 300 block of N. 8th Street in Sayre on the evening of April 5 to a report of the vandalism. When police arrived the victim would tell them that her ex-boyfriend, later identified as being 33-year-old John Edward Sanders III had come to the home and pulled out an air conditioner window unit in an attempt to gain access to the residence.

She said that he would allegedly kick in the front door, punch her twice in the back of the head, and had knocked over a dresser inside the home before leaving.

It was noted in the affidavit that police were able to pull a picture of the defendant’s vehicle off of a security camera at the home.

After obtaining a protective order, police would serve the order to the defendant at his place of residence, and would subsequently arrest the man on a complaint of domestic violence.

He would later be charged with domestic abuse – assault and battery along with first degree burglary.

The defendant would tell police that he went to the home in an attempt to recover his laptop.

Initial bond was set at $10,000.

His next court date is scheduled for April 29.
