The man charged in the shooting death case of Colter Jake Vaught is back in jail after allegedly tossing a bag of animal feces at a memorial honoring the victim.

That man, 37-year-old Clayton Samson Hays, was charged in January after being accused of shooting Vaught outside of an oilfield business located in the 900 block of S. Merritt Road.

Hays had been out on a $500,000 bond since late March with multiple obligated conditions he must meet or maintain including wearing a charged GPS ankle monitor at all times.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed last week, the incident in question occurred on the morning of May 16 when witnesses told authorities they witnessed a pickup stop at the memorial and saw a person throw something at the base of the cross.

The witnesses said they would walk to the memorial and saw a white plastic bag that contained a large amount of animal feces.

The affidavit said that the GPS data from the ankle monitor that Hays was suppose to be wearing showed that it was allegedly at the location of the memorial when the witnesses said the incident took place.

Records show that Hays was booked back into the Beckham County Jail on May 17.

Along with the first degree manslaughter charge, Hays has now received a charge of outraging public decency.

A bond hearing is scheduled for Wednesday that will decide if a new bond will be applied or revoked.
