An Elk City woman has received a felony charge in Beckham County District Court after allegedly stealing a car.

According to court records 27-year-old Alexis Jayde Clark received a felony larceny charge after allegedly taking the parked car out of a convenience store parking lot on the morning of May 24.

The probable cause affidavit showed that Elk City police were dispatched to the store in the 2000 block of S. Main just after 2 a.m. There they would speak with the victim who told police that he left his vehicle running when he went inside the store, and when he returned the car was missing.

A store employee would tell police that he suspected a woman who had come into the store earlier as the culprit. After reviewing security footage, police were able to obtain a picture of the suspect and took it to a nearby bar. An employee of the bar would tell police that she suspected the person in the photo to be Clark, and gave police her home address.

Later police would go to the suspect’s home and would find the missing car parked near by, and the suspect – Clark, in front of the residence.

Clark would be placed under arrested and booked into the Beckham County Jail.

Her next court date is scheduled for July 8.
