Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning says his office has decided to adjust the amount of alerts that the department’s app sends out during weather events in the county.

He says previously it was tied into the National Weather Service (NWS) and alerts were sent out every time the NWS had issued anything from a watch, to a warning.

Manning felt like that was too many alerts.

Manning reminds app users to still stay weather aware during severe weather days and still encourages residents to download the free app.
