A wildfire in an uncut wheat field in Washita County reportedly caused damage to several emergency vehicles that responded.

According to Cloud Chief Fire Chief Nocona Cook the fire started early Saturday afternoon, east of the Cloud Chief area near OK-115 and County Road 1220. He said first responders had to drive into the wheat field to attempt to combat the fire but that caused more problems.

Chief Cook said along with Colony’s truck sustaining damage, Cloud Chief’s brand new BP14 caught fire as well. Cook said that truck was just put into service last month.

Cook added that crews from multiple fire departments in Washita, Custer, Caddo and Kiowa Counties responded to the fire and it was quickly contained.

He said there were no injuries.
