The Georgia man charged with, among other things, kidnapping in Custer County now has another felony charge to deal with after allegedly assaulting a detention officer inside the Custer County Detention Center.

According to court records, 21-year-old Luis Fernandez of Rome, Georgia received the additional charge last month after slapping the hand of the officer after he was told to return to the recreation yard.

It was reported that he would later flood his jail cell by using water from his sink.

Fernandez received one felony charge of assault and battery on a police officer.

He was arrested in Weatherford last September and charged with kidnapping after eluding police after allegedly forcing his then girlfriend to drive him cross country from Georgia to California, allegedly abusing her while doing so.

During a stop in Weatherford, the woman was able to escape and find help. While doing so Fernandez would allegedly flee from police but was eventually arrested after a high speed pursuit.
