Wheeler Woman Accused of Stealing Car

A Wheeler, Texas woman is wanted in Custer County after being accused of stealing a friend’s car.

According to court records Sierra Dawnn Atherton received one felony charge of larceny of an automobile AFC on June 18.

A probable cause affidavit showed the incident took place on May 28 when while at a mutual friend’s home in rural Custer County, the defendant became upset got into her friend’s car without permission and left.

The victim reported the car stolen to Clinton Police on June 1.

The victim would later tell police that on June 5 she was contacted by a male subject telling her that he was looking to buy her car. He stated that the seller, a mutual friend of the victim and the defendant, did not have the title to the vehicle and that he would find the bill of sale in the car with the victim’s contact information on it.

The victim would meet with the potential seller and buyer of the car and was able to take back possession of her vehicle.

As of press time Atherton has not been arrested.
