Charges have been filed against an Altus man who is accused of shooting at another man multiple times.

Court records show 60-year-old Juan Dominguez Ruiz has been charged with shooting with intent to kill and using a vehicle in the discharge of a weapon, both felonies, after an investigation conducted by Altus Police allege that Ruiz got into an argument with the other man on July 19.

Police said the two were arguing over alleged stolen property and the argument escalated into a fistfight. Police say sometime during the fight, Ruiz allegedly grabbed a pistol and began firing at the victim. This prompted the victim to flee, however Ruiz would get into a truck and chase the man while continuing to shoot at him.

Fortunately the victim was not hit by the gunshots.

If convicted, Ruiz faces up to a life sentence for each charge.
