Big District Softball Game Today

It was an intense day yesterday for the Elk City Elkette softball team. The Elkettes pulled off a thrilling 4-3 victory over Bethany in 10 innings, keeping their hopes alive for the District 4A-1 crown.

The Game Breakdown

Bethany held a narrow lead as the final innings approached. Elk City managed to tie the game in the 7th, sending it into extra innings. After allowing two runs in the top of the 10th, the Brown and White made a remarkable comeback. Ella Sottile drove in Claire Edwards with a single to right field. Down to their last out, sophomore Blakely Ball hit a clutch two-run triple, securing a hard-fought 4-3 win for the Elkettes.

Star Players

  • Aubrie Pogue: The Elkette pitcher threw all 10 innings, allowing 3 runs on 11 hits, racking up 12 strikeouts and issuing just 1 walk.
  • Blakely Ball: The hero of the game, going 1-for-4 with a game-winning two-run triple.

Other District Results

In other district action:

  • Weatherford dominated Woodward 10-0.
  • Kingfisher defeated Mount St. Mary 12-2.

These wins have set up a showdown between Elk City and Weatherford for the district title this afternoon. Elk City needs to win by at least two runs to secure the championship. Any other result, even a one-run win by the Elkettes, would hand the title to the Lady Eagles.

  • B-O edged MVG 3-1.
  • Calumet/Hammon shut out Geary 8-0.
  • Cheyenne blanked Sentinel 10-0.
  • Thomas whipped Cimarron 12-2.
  • Hobart spanked Snyder 11-3.

Fall Baseball Results

As for fall baseball, Canute whitewashed Arnett 11-0, while the remaining games were canceled due to rain over the weekend.
