The Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) is set to continue its series of statewide meetings with water utility suppliers, regulated industries, commercial agricultural producers, and economic development groups. The fourth round of meetings kicks off this week, focusing on local water challenges and discussing water management strategies based on insights from previous discussions.
One of the key meetings will take place at Quartz Mountain State Park Lodge in Lone Wolf, OK, on October 29, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. This session will engage participants from the West Central, Southwest, Beaver-Cache, and Lower Washita OCWP Planning Regions. The meeting will explore specific strategies to manage regional water supply issues, along with policy implementation discussions to address these challenges effectively.
This fourth round will also include other meetings:
October 28, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at High Plains Technology Center, Woodward, OK (Panhandle Region)
November 5, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. (Virtual meeting)
Earlier meetings held in April and May 2024 highlighted projected changes in water demand across Oklahoma’s 82 planning basins through 2075, and explored potential water management strategies. Key takeaways included the need for locally tailored solutions, demand management, and support for intra-basin water transfers for cost-sharing and resiliency.
This meeting in Lone Wolf is crucial for stakeholders in the region, offering a platform to discuss specific local concerns and collaborate on long-term water management solutions.
