HIGH SCHOOL PLAYOFFS

The High school football playoffs kicked off all across the State of Oklahoma last Friday night. The Elk City Elks hit the road to Tuttle to face the Tigers. The Elks fought extremely hard but ultimately came up shy in a 34-6 loss. Tucker Garza found the end zone on a long drive spanning the end of the third and early fourth quarters…. (2:27:20) The Elks finish the season 5-6 but make their school record tying 5th straight trip to the 4A playoffs. Elsewhere around 4A District 1 Elgin blanked Ardmore 43-0, Wford fell at home to Bethany 28-6, and Clinton pulled off the upset at Blanchard, defeating the defending 4A champs 21-20. The Red Tornadoes will travel to Wagoner on Friday night.

The smaller classes got their playoff runs started on Friday as well. In Class A Div II, Thomas topped Wilson 28-6, Mangum was upset by Konawa 15-10. Class B Div I saw Laverne shutout Snyder 51-0, Hollis whitewashed Drumright 46-0. In Class B Div II, Seiling whipped Thackerville 66-6, Shattuck won at Wetumka 44-20. in Class C action, MVG season ended with a 54-8 loss to Timberlake. 

HIGH SCHOOL HOOPS

The high school basketball season has already started for the smaller schools, and there were 3 separate doubleheaders on paragontv last Friday night. In girls action, Hammon handled Erick 67-8, AM-Po got the better of AB 59-34, and Cheynne-Reydon won a thriller in OT against Leedey 52-51. Those boys games saw Hammon smack Erick 67-26, Am-Po outlasted AB 29-23, and Leedey spanked Cheyenne-Reydon 60-22, Granite got the better of Sweetwater 58-34

Outside the paragontv network on Friday night, Chatty topped FCB 53-38, Duke hammered Olustee-Eldorado 64-21, FGFS smoked Vici 45-27, H-E obliterated Gracemont 80-15. In boys action FCB edged Chatty 62-50, Duke beat up on Olustee-Eldorado 71-8, H-E beat Gracemont 74-16, Granite ran away from Sweetwater 86-58

THUNDER SPLIT WEEKEND HOME GAMES

The Ok City Thunder split a pair of weekend home games to finish off an early season 6 game homestand 4-2. OKC whipped the Suns on Friday night 99-83 in the first of four group play games for the in season tournament. Four of the 5 starters were in double figures as SGA led the way with 28. Ok City lost last night to Dallas in a rematch of last season’s Western Conf semifinals 121-119. Thunder killer PJ Washington was at it again leading the Mavs with 27. SGA poured in 36 with Jalen willams scoring 27 in the defeat. The Thunder get tonight off before their second play in tournament game tomorrow night in San Antonio.
