Elk City, OK – An Elk City woman is wanted on charges of child neglect following a traffic stop in late August 2024. According to a probable cause affidavit, 31-year-old Stormie Gail Williams was stopped at the intersection of Sunset and Kelly Avenue by Elk City police officers after a report linked her vehicle to prior investigations.

During the stop, officers discovered that Williams’ driver’s license had been revoked and that she had outstanding warrants in Beckham and Custer Counties. Officers also noted the presence of her juvenile son in the vehicle. A search of Williams’ SUV allegedly uncovered drug paraphernalia and a substance suspected to be fentanyl.

The probable cause affidavit revealed that Williams was found in possession of smoking devices and foil used for consuming drugs. Officers reported the smell of marijuana during the encounter, leading to a search of her purse and the vehicle’s side floorboard. A presumptive test conducted later confirmed the presence of fentanyl residue.

Williams was transported to the Beckham County Jail without incident. Authorities cited the presence of her child during the alleged drug use as grounds for the child neglect charge. According to Oklahoma law, child neglect includes exposing a minor to illegal drugs or other harmful environments.

If convicted, Williams faces severe penalties, including imprisonment or fines, as outlined in state statutes. The case remains under investigation as evidence has been submitted to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for further analysis.
