Blaine County, OK – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a fatality from a collision that occurred on January 15, 2025, approximately nine miles west of Watonga on US-270. The crash claimed the life of a 66-year-old Edmond man.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2017 Jeep Renegade, was identified as Dale L. Whybark, 66, of Edmond. Whybark suffered critical head injuries in the crash and was airlifted from the scene to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He succumbed to his injuries on January 21.
The crash occurred when Whybark failed to yield at a stop sign, causing his vehicle to be struck by a 2012 Ford F250. The driver of the F250 was transported by Watonga EMS to Watonga Mercy Hospital, where he was treated and released.
A passenger in the Jeep Renegade, Samuel A. Whybark, 23, also of Edmond, was transported to Watonga Mercy Hospital by EMS. He was treated and released.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
