Weatherford, OK – A Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) student is recovering after a medical emergency during a National Guard training exercise at the university pool on Tuesday morning.
According to SWOSU officials, the student experienced a medical emergency, went underwater, and did not resurface. A lifeguard on duty and another National Guard student quickly responded, pulling the individual from the water and administering aid.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene, and the student was transported to a local hospital, where they are recovering.
University officials commended the fast actions of those involved, emphasizing the importance of trained personnel in emergency situations. No further details on the student’s condition have been released at this time.
