Weatherford, OK – A Texas man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges in Custer County after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of firearms in his vehicle.
Dunyale Latroy Rainer, 43, of Amarillo, Texas, was stopped by police in the early morning hours of January 27, 2025, while driving a white Chevy Suburban with an Indiana license plate in Weatherford. The stop was initiated due to a license plate light violation, but officers soon discovered that Rainer’s driver’s license was suspended.
According to the police affidavit, officers detected the odor of marijuana and placed Rainer under arrest. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered two firearms on the passenger side floorboard—a pink Charter Arms .38-caliber revolver loaded with .38 special bullets and a black .22-caliber semi-automatic Walther pistol. One of the firearms had been reported stolen out of Marion County, Indiana.
Rainer, a convicted felon, admitted to officers that the weapons belonged to him and stated he had obtained them from a friend in Indiana. When informed that one of the guns had been reported stolen, Rainer allegedly replied, “Yeah, I’ve been having it for years.”
Rainer faces the following charges:
Two felony counts of possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction
One misdemeanor count of knowingly receiving or concealing stolen property
One misdemeanor count of driving with a suspended license
If convicted, Rainer could face up to 10 years in prison for each felony firearm charge. His next court appearance is scheduled for February 19.
