According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 7:20 a.m. on February 5, 2025. A 2006 Toyota Tundra, driven by Jinmei L. Weinman, 39, of Woodward, was traveling southbound on OK-34 when she attempted to pass another vehicle. Weinman lost control on the icy roadway, causing the vehicle to depart the highway and roll two and a half times before coming to rest on its top.
Weinman was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. She was pinned inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by Woodward Fire Department using the Jaws of Life.
Two juvenile passengers, an 11-year-old female and a 13-year-old male, both from Woodward, were transported by Woodward County EMS to Integris Health Hospital. Both were treated and released.
Authorities listed the cause of the collision as “unsafe speed for icy conditions.” The driver’s condition was noted as “apparently normal” at the time of the crash. The vehicle was equipped with seatbelts, and all occupants were using them.
The weather at the time was reported as freezing drizzle, making road conditions slick and hazardous.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol urges drivers to use extreme caution in winter weather conditions and adjust speeds accordingly to prevent accidents.
