Troopers with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol were busy this past holiday weekend working multiple accidents in the area.

The first occurred Saturday morning at approximately 1:23 a.m. on Route 66, 4 miles west of Weatherford in Custer County when troopers say a 2020 Kia Soul driven by 22-year-old Christopher Landers of Clinton departed the road to the right and struck a ditch embankment. This would cause the vehicle to go airborne and roll an undetermined amount of times into a pasture before coming to rest on it’s wheels.

OHP says Landers was ejected during the mishap.

Landers along with his passenger, 25-year-old Andrew Armbruster, were both hospitalized. Landers was last listed to be in good condition at Weatherford Regional Hospital with arm injuries. Meanwhile Armbruster was taken to OU Medical Center and admitted in fair condition with leg injuries.

Troopers said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Another wreck occurred just after midnight Sunday morning in Greer County when troopers reported that a 2011 Ford Expedition driven by Brady Martell of Frederick and a 2004 Honda Accord driven by 45-year-old Janice Colson of Mangum were both involved in a wreck on OK-6, 3 miles south of Granite.

As a result, Martell was treated and released at a Lawton hospital, however Colson was flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where she was admitted in critical condition with head injuries.

The cause of the collision is also under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
