Clinton, OK – An Arizona man has been charged with felony assault and battery on a police officer following an incident in Clinton on January 21.
Wyatt Eugene Cole Collins, 32, of Glendale, Arizona, was arrested after allegedly attacking an officer during a confrontation with law enforcement. According to court documents filed in the Custer County District Court, Collins struck an officer in the back while resisting arrest, also swinging at the officer’s face.
Authorities were initially dispatched to a location on Gary Blvd in Clinton to assist with a stopped motorist. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Collins sitting in a red sedan. Officers instructed Collins to step out of the vehicle, but he resisted, requiring officers to forcibly remove him.
As deputies attempted to take Collins into custody, he reportedly swung at one of the officers before being taken to the ground. While restrained, Collins allegedly continued to struggle and struck another officer in the face.
Emergency medical personnel were called to check on Collins before he was transported to the Clinton City Jail for booking. He now faces a felony charge, which carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $500.
