A Clinton man is wanted in Custer County after allegedly hitting a man with his car during a dispute.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed on Monday, 26-year-old Marquez Dajion Simpkins is wanted after being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after allegedly committing the crime on June 24.

The affidavit stated that Clinton police were dispatched to the block of 500 Glenn Smith Road just before midnight on June 24 in reference to a person being hit by a car. When they arrived they found the victim on the ground but the man refused to tell police who he was.

Talking with two witnesses, they would tell police that the victim attempted to break up a fight between Simpkins and a woman, that’s when Simpkins got into the car, backed up and struck the man’s left hip. Simpkins then would allegedly put the car in drive and strike the man a second time, this time causing him to come onto of the hood of the car and striking his face on the windshield before being thrown off.

As of press time, Simpkins has not been arrested.
