Custer County, OK – The Custer County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with multiple law enforcement agencies, has made an arrest following a detailed investigation into child exploitation.
According to a press release, on December 15, 2024, deputies launched an investigation after receiving a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. The tip indicated that a suspect had uploaded child pornography to the social media platform KiK. Through extensive cyber search warrants, authorities identified 23-year-old Weatherford resident Joel Salcido as a suspect.
A search warrant was executed at Salcido’s residence on February 11, 2025. During the search, investigators seized multiple cell phones, which were later found to contain obscene materials. As a result, Salcido was arrested and charged with Distributing Child Pornography and Violating the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act. He is currently held in the Custer County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing, and at this time, authorities do not believe any of the victims are local children.
Assisting the Custer County Sheriff’s Office in the case included the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations (OSBI), Weatherford Police Department, and Kingfisher Police Department.
