December Sales Tax Intake Down

The latest sales tax numbers have been released and most western Oklahoma communities saw a slight dip in collections when compared to the same time a year ago.

The latest numbers reflect sales tax intake from the month of December.

Starting with the three largest cities in the area, the City of Elk City saw a 8.1% decrease by collecting $1,253,223.46. The City of Weatherford was down 7.1% by bringing in $1,072,110.42. The City of Clinton collected $499,519.99, a 4.9% decrease when compared to last year.

By comparison, the City of Altus was down 10.7% with an intake of $1,045,467.93 of sales tax dollars and Woodward saw a decrease by bringing in $1,155,843.26 – a 2.9% decrease.

Smaller communities in the area had Sayre down 3.8% ($136,591.73), Mangum down 7.2% ($48,178.33), Hobart down 2.1% ($122,769.24) and Cordell down 11.5% ($94,438.73).

The state as a whole was down slightly at 0.2% by collecting $237,605,329.30 in the month of December.
