Childress, TX – Defendants entered pleas in the 100th Judicial District Court in Childress County on Wednesday, March 12. The cases were prosecuted by District Attorney Luke Inman and Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle on behalf of the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Dale Rabe, Jr., presiding over the proceedings.
Wellington Man Sentenced to Probation for Family Violence
Tryston O’Rear, 19, of Wellington, Texas, pleaded guilty to the third-degree felony offense of continuous violence against the family. He was sentenced to three years of probation.
O’Rear was arrested by Collingsworth County Sheriff Kent Riley for the offense, which occurred on November 3, 2023. A Collingsworth County Grand Jury indicted him on October 10, 2024. As part of his sentence, O’Rear must pay a $500 fine, $376 in court costs, and complete 200 hours of community service. If his probation is revoked, he could face up to ten years in prison.
Altus Man Receives Probation for Burglary Charge
Willie Sanders, 45, of Altus, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty to the first-degree felony offense of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony. He was sentenced to ten years of probation.
Sanders was arrested for the offense, which occurred in Collingsworth County on November 18, 2024. A Collingsworth County Grand Jury indicted him on January 30, 2025. As part of his probation conditions, Sanders must pay a $10,000 fine, $500 in attorney fees, and $376 in court costs. He is also required to complete 400 hours of community service and is prohibited from contacting the victim. If his probation is revoked, Sanders faces a potential sentence of up to 99 years or life in prison.
The cases highlight the ongoing efforts of the 100th Judicial District Attorney’s Office to hold offenders accountable while providing alternatives to incarceration for eligible defendants.
