A Clinton woman has been charged with one felony count of assault and battery resulting in great bodily harm after allegedly assaulting her girlfriend last month.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Clinton Police were dispatched to a physical domestic assault situation on October 18. When they arrived they found the victim with injuries that included visible head and facial injuries.

The victim would tell police that when she arrived home earlier that afternoon, 20-year-old Ashley Lopez became upset when asked about her wallet. The affidavit stated that Lopez would punch a TV and allegedly throw an object at the victim, hitting her in the head.

The victim would also tell police that Lopez allegedly choked and hit her several times on her face with a fist.

Later while speaking with Lopez, she would claim that when the two arrived home that the victim began to hit her and that she hit back one time in self-defense.

Lopez was arrested and booked into the Clinton City Jail.

Initial bond was set at $5,000.

Lopez’s next court date is scheduled for December 2.
