Two individuals driving through the SWOSU campus in Weatherford were found to be in possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop recently.

According to court records, 26-year-old Joseph Tyler Layton of Fort Cobb and 31-year old Carissa Dawn Gloria of Clinton were arrested on the afternoon of June 18 when SWOSU Police found the illegal substances during the traffic stop at the intersection of Caddo and Grandview streets on the SWOSU campus.

A probable cause affidavit said the officer noticed that the vehicle’s front and back windshields were missing, and decided to pull the vehicle over after it had come to stop over a crosswalk at the stop sign of the intersection.

The affidavit stated that before the officer made contact with the occupants of the vehicle, he observed the male driver, Layton, trade places with the passenger.

It was discovered that the two had traded places due to Layton not having a drivers license and being on probation.

During a search of the vehicle, officers would find what would later test positive as being methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana, and other various drug paraphernalia.

The duo were arrested while a third passenger was allowed to leave.

Later, Layton was charged with trafficking in illegal drugs, AFC, obstruction, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Gloria received two counts of trafficking in illegal drugs, obstruction, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
