After a quick study, it was determined that a tornado did in fact touch down in the east Texas Panhandle Sunday night.

As a result, multiple structures were damaged near Shamrock in Wheeler County.

According to officials with the National Weather Service out of Amarillo, a tornado with an EF-1 rating touched down just after 3 p.m. Sunday northwest of Shamrock and lasted for about a minute before lifting.

A minute is all it took to damage a livestock barn at the Dalton O’Gorman Rodeo Arena. The high winds from the twister were able to tear off a large section of the roof and blow down a wall.

Other small structures in the area were reported to be damaged as well.

In total, NWS officials said a total of four tornadoes touched down on Sunday in the Texas Panhandle.

The same storm system quickly moved through western Oklahoma, that triggered a couple of tornado warnings – one in Beckham County and the other in Custer County – however no tornadoes actually touched down Sunday night in the area.
