Elk City Main Street Project Update

3-377

July 30, 2024

After seven years of planning, considering bids, and replacing a water line, the Main Street project in Elk City has a start date.

City Manager Tom Ivester says part of the delay to the project was three out of four bids came in over budget. He says total cost of the project, that will take place between 3rd and 7th streets, will be $11.5 million. However he says the city’s portion will only be $1.7 million.

Ivester added that the project should not interfere with the upcoming rodeo parade and said by contract, work will not interfere with downtown businesses during the holiday shopping season.
