Elk City Man Charged with Burglary and Protective Order Violation

Elk City, OK – An Elk City man has been charged with first-degree burglary and violating a protective order.

According to a probable cause affidavit, The incident occurred on December 8 when Elk City Police responded to a report of an ongoing burglary. According to authorities, 37-year-old Joshua Sims allegedly broke a window and forced his way into the residence, pushing the homeowner into a wall.

Investigators discovered that the homeowner had an active protective order against Sims. After entering the home, Sims reportedly exited through the back door.

Police say Sims also sent text messages to the occupants of the house. Video evidence from the scene appeared to confirm his involvement, as detailed in the report.

Bond was set at $20,000.

Sims’ next court date is scheduled for January 13.
