Elk City, OK – While investigating inappropriate messages sent to a 16-year-old, Elk City Police uncovered an alleged inappropriate relationship between a 23-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl.

According to court records Gavin Chase Vermillion was arrested on December 24 and charged with first-degree rape.

A probable cause affidavit showed that the investigation began when the father of the 16-year-old girl contacted authorities and reported the discovery of disturbing messages from Vermillion to the teen.

The investigation revealed that Vermillion also allegedly engaged in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl. During a forensic interview, the younger victim disclosed that she had been to Vermillion’s home, where the alleged assault occurred. She provided explicit details about the encounter, including physical actions by Vermillion that corroborated her account.

A search warrant executed on December 24 at Vermillion’s residence uncovered further evidence supporting the allegations. Vermillion admitted to the inappropriate relationship with the 13-year-old girl, despite knowing her age and the illegality of his actions.

Vermillion was transported to the Beckham County Detention Center and later received the felony charge. His bond was set at $250,000, and a condition of no contact with the alleged victim was imposed.

Vermillion’s next court appearance is scheduled for February 10.
