An Elk City man was charged last week with soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor by use of technology after allegedly having an inappropriate online conversation with an individual who he thought was an 11-year-old female.

Turns out, according to court records, that child was a decoy used by an independent investigator.

According to court records, 64-year-old Calvin Wayne Weir received the felony charge last week in Beckham County District Court after an investigation conducted by Elk City Police.

A probable cause affidavit showed that officers were made aware of the alleged online conversation by the investigator in April.
