Fatal Accident Near Mangum

A single vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Greer County has left one person dead and another in critical condition.

According to the collision report provided by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on US-283, 2 miles east of Mangum when while traveling northbound in a 2004 Ford Ranger, 79-year-old Calvin M. Gaston of Wyandotte failed to negotiate a curve to the right and departed the road to the left. Troopers said Gaston over corrected to the left and rolled the pickup 3 times – ejecting the driver.

Gaston was pronounced deceased on the scene.

His passenger, 75-year-old Levina S. Foreman of Grove was flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted with trunk internal injuries.
