Crews from the Elk City Fire Department were dispatched to a grass fire Thursday afternoon in the 1700 block of West C Avenue.

Chief Kyle Chervenka says before the fire, residents in the area heard a loud pop. He says it is suspected that Thursday’s high winds may have caused a spark from nearby power lines.

Chief Chervenka said the fire was contained to three backyards and a fence was damaged. He said fortunately no structures were involved and there were no injuries.
