Now that Elk City Mayor Nick Archer has been elected to the District 55 seat of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, what happens to the mayoral position?

City Manager Tom Ivester shed some light on how the transition process will take place, even though there is still time remaining on the current term as mayor for Archer. Ivester says Archer will have to vacate the seat in November and says the city has a couple of options on how to fill the void.

Archer won the primary election for the seat in June and did not draw a democratic opponent. Ivester indicated that Archer does intend to serve as mayor of Elk City until November.
