June Sales Tax Collections Show Promise

The latest sales tax numbers are in, and once again, two out of three of western Oklahoma’s larger communities collected over $1 million. The latest numbers reflect sales tax intake for the month of June.

Starting with those cities, the City of Elk City saw a 5.3% increase, collecting $1,313,429.73. The City of Weatherford was down by 3.1% but still brought in $1,068,750.65, while the City of Clinton was up 4.9% after collecting $569,495.87.

By comparison, the City of Altus was down 3.9%, with an intake of $1,084,049.73 in sales tax dollars, and Woodward saw a 6.4% decrease, bringing in $1,070,877.34.

Smaller communities in the area had Sayre down 3% ($135,475.98), Mangum with a decrease of 18.2% ($48,305.39), Hobart up 2.8% ($123,665.44), and Cordell up 3% ($96,290.45).

The state as a whole was down 2.1%, collecting $200,525,913.50 for the month of June.
