A western Oklahoma lawmaker has announced his decision to run for a major leadership position in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

District 57 Representative Anthony Moore (Rep – Clinton) says he intends to run for Speaker Pro Tempore before next year’s legislative session.

Former Speaker Pro Tempore Kyle Hilbert will assume the role as Speaker of the House, replacing Charles McCall who is term limited.

Moore says this will be a different type of “campaign” where his accomplishments will be highlighted more than his goals as a lawmaker.

The election among his peers will be in November.

The 60th Legislature will convene for Organizational Day on Jan. 7, 2025. The next legislative session begins Feb. 3, 2025.
