During a special meeting of the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission, an amendment to the 2023-2027 Airport Construction Program to add funds to various projects was approved.

The approval will see proposed grant dollars go towards the replacement of a hangar that was damaged by a tornado at Clinton Regional Airport.

Airports Division Manager Nick Young says the airport is seeking to build a 92’x70’ box hangar.

Young says earlier engineer estimates on the project came in at around $743,000. The commission approved just under $223,000 in grant funds to go towards that project.

The tornado that damaged the airport occurred on the night of October 12, 2021 and caused an estimated $7 million in damages.
