Clinton-Sherman Airport’s commercial occupant just got some great news for Burns Flat, western Oklahoma, and the state’s aerospace industry.

The Federal Aviation Administration—the government agency responsible for regulating airplanes and keeping the skies safe—recently awarded Premium Aerospace Center in Burns Flat a certificate that authorizes PAC to approve aircraft to return to service after receiving required maintenance.

Jose Gonzalez is the PAC Accountable Manager, meaning he’s responsible for repair station operations, ensuring that personnel follow federal regulations, and serving as the primary contact with the FAA.

The FAA certificate will allow us to hire qualified technicians and add capabilities to serve more customers and grow dramatically,” Gonzalez said.

According to Gonzalez, PAC will hire 450 employees for the Burns Flat-based aerospace business in the next four years.

On July 1, 2022, PAC signed a 20-year lease for Hangar 233 at Clinton-Sherman. Three months later to the day, PAC signed a lease for Hangar 234.

We will spend $14 million to refurbish and transform the space into a booth to paint Boeing 767-300 aircraft and smaller airplanes,” Gonzalez said.

PAC’s mission is to paint and perform scheduled maintenance, modifications, and interior upgrades on aircraft. That mission just got a green light from the FAA to expand operations.

PAC is hiring maintenance personnel, and as soon as the paint hangar is complete, we will hire painters,” Gonzalez said. “We will also build additional hangars as customers commit.”
